"There is no such thing as failure, its only Feedback" Annon

I read this quote a while ago and its been stuck in my head ever since. When I came across it for first time, I was skeptical about it but as time passed by and I thought about it and now I believe it makes perfect sense.

What is Success and Failure? Its all about perspective. Lets say, you run a marketing campaign and you don't get the results you expected and to someone looking at it from outside it might appear as a "failure." But to you, its learning experience because now you know what didn't work, now you know what NOT to do and how NOT to do it. So even though the campaign did not gave results you expected, it gave you more experience and made you better.

So, as long as we learn from our failures and disappointments and next time we do a better job resulting in better results, how can that experience be a failure, its can only be Feedback.

Michael Jordon once said, "I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why i succeed."

Life doesn't teach us as we are taught in school. In school, if you are wrong or fail its catastrophic and you are looked down upon. We have to be correct and right most of the time if we are to survive the school.

But life pushes us, teases us, when we fail at something, its life telling us that "hey, this is an opportunity to learn, I want you to learn from this failure, so you can become better for the great opportunity I am going to bring for you in the future, so learn now."

So, don't be discouraged with failure, its only feedback, its there to teach you, so you get better and better. As long as you learn from the failure and improve yourself, that failure is not a failure, its a success because it has improved you as a person. Now you are better than where you were before, in terms of experience and knowledge.

"Success is the result of good decisions, good decisions are results of experience, and experience is the result of bad decisions." Tony Robbins

If you cannot solve an integral, what is it?
You fail enough marketing campaigns, you might have learned lots internally, but until you run a successful one you won't learn what really works, just what doesn't, and it's not the same thing. Also, if you keep failing marketing campaigns you will be fired and how's this for feedback.

I guess what i am trying to say is that while positive thinking is absolutely necessary and the ability to learn and adapt based on your learning is what will make you successful, failure exits no matter what you call it. And sometimes it's better to be realistic and say, yep, i failed. And get on the next thing with more vigor! :)

I totally agree with what you said. As long as you learn from your failures, they are just steps to your success.
